How will you make a lip balm at home?

Before applying anything to your lips, it is essential to exfoliate your lips as it brings blood circulation, showing more effective results. To exfoliate, you can use your little finger on your lips and move in a circular motion or toothbrush the same way. You can also mix sugar and honey and scrub your lips. Adding some coconut oil or lemon to it is optional. Exfoliate for not more than 2 minutes.

1. Beetroot lip balm

Just add a pinch of turmeric to some crushed rose petals and beetroot, make a paste to store in a bottle, and add two drops of milk to the paste whenever you want to apply. Or, use rose essential oil instead of rose petals. To the melted mix of 4 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp shea butter, and beeswax, add 1 tsp rose powder and 3 to 4 drops of rose essential oil.

Rose helps soften, nourish and lighten your lips naturally as it repairs the dark and patchy lips.

 

3. Almonds lip balm

Crush the water-soaked almonds to store in a container and apply it to your lips, adding two drops of milk to it. Almonds help remove dead skin cells and keep your lips healthy as it contains Vitamin E, which also prevents darkening lips.

 

4. Coconut lip balm

Coconut provides a moisturizing effect to your lips as it has disinfecting and antimicrobial properties. It also prevents your lips from infections.

Boil beeswax and coconut oil in a container at low flame and store it in a tube when it comes to room temperature. Keep the lip balm in the refrigerator and use it for around 30 days or six months.

If you use the raw cocoa powder, it may help keep your lips hydrated for longer. To make a lip balm using cocoa powder, mix 1 tbsp beeswax, coconut oil, and cocoa butter with 1/2 tsp cocoa powder. You can also add vitamin E capsules and essential oil to it.

Cocoa butter is an emollient which keeps your lips hydrated and protects your lips from sun damage. Take 2 tbsp cocoa butter and coconut oil and 1 tbsp beeswax. Melt them, add almond oil and jojoba oil, and store them in a tin.

 

8. Essential oil lip balm

Add any essential oil to the melted mix of shea butter and beeswax. Let it cool for 20 minutes in the refrigerator before use. What are all essential oils effective for cracked lips? They are,

1. Peppermint oil 

Peppermint oil gives a refreshing effect to the lips curing sun-burnt and cracked skin.

 

2. Grapefruit essential oil 

The fragrance of grapefruit essential oil is pleasant, and it helps soften your lips as it is one of the citrus oils with a sweet flavor.

 

3. Lavender oil

Lavender oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that protect your lips and lessen itchiness and irritations.

 

9. Shea butter lip balm

It is rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and some components beneficial for your lips. These properties help soften your lips and reduce lines and pigments on lips.

To make a lip balm using shea butter at home, you need to melt shea butter and add some honey or olive oil and essential oil to it. You can use the shea butter lip balm for around three days.

 

10. Vanilla, orange lip balm

On the one hand, vanilla soothes your cracked and sore lips; on the other hand, orange helps relieve inflammation, deeply moisturize and reduce lip pigmentation.

Melt 1 tbsp of coconut and olive oil with 2 tsp of grated beeswax and shea butter. Let the mixture cool down, add 6 to 8 drops of orange essential oil and 1/8 tsp vanilla extract to it and mix well. Transfer the lip balm to tin and store it in a cold place.

 

11. Jojoba oil lip balm

Jojoba oil has nourishing vitamins and minerals that keep your lips nourished, moisturized, and soothe dryness. To make a lip balm of it at home, you can melt beeswax and jojoba oil and add any of the essential oils if you wish to.

Strawberry has natural exfoliators, Vitamin C, and salicylic acid, which help remove dead skin cells of lips. It is good for delicate and cracked lips. Also, strawberry gives your lips a light pink color with a great smell.

To make it at home, melt 1 tsp coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and one and a half tbsp beeswax. You can add a piece of lipstick if you wish to, and then add seven drops of strawberry essential oil. Mix them well and store the prepared lip balm in a container consisting of a lid.

 

Other than using the home ingredients, you can simply take two bowls and pour hot water in one of them. Keep the second bowl onto the hot water bowl and put some vaseline in it. Continuously stir until the vaseline melts and add some lipstick to it. After mixing it, separate the bowl from the water bowl and mix well again. Fill the mixture in a container and store it in the fridge for 30 minutes. The lip balm will be ready!

And you can also use green tea and pomegranate instead of lip balms to soften your lips. They lock the moisture and provide nourishment to your lips. To use pomegranate on lips, crush a few pomegranate seeds with a little milk cream and rose water. And to use green tea, just dip a green tea bag in hot water and place it between lips for a few minutes.

Tip: To nourish your lips when you are not using lip balms, take some coconut oil and three Vitamin E capsules and store the mix in a box. It will soften your lips. Apply it to your lips before you sleep. And instead of this mixture, you can also apply clarified butter or milk cream before night sleep.
