Step 1 – Oiling And Massaging Your Scalp And Hair
Oiling one’s hair has numerous benefits. Start massaging the oil into hair for providing nourishment to the hair and improving the blood circulation to the scalp. You can choose whatever hair oil that suits you the best. These days many companies have come up with oils that have a blend of herbs that are beneficial for hair growth and nourishment.
There are oils that are available at our homes, which can be used too. Oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, or even mustard oil have great hair benefits. These oils are easily available in the market too. The healthy fats and nutrients that these oils contain, will help you to boost your hair follicle’s health and the texture of your hair too. Head massage helps in reducing stress, which also plays an important role in the health of hair follicles.
Step 2 – Steam Your Hair
Now, steaming is an important step in a hair spa treatment. This step helps to unclog the pores and removes the dirt and impurities from the scalp.it also helps the hair oil to penetrate deeper into the roots, and nourish them.
One can either use a steamer, which is readily available in the market, or a hot towel treatment. In this, all you have to do is, dip a towel into the moderately warm water. Take it out and squeeze the excess water out and wrap the towel around your head. You can repeat this process at least 2 or 3 times, before moving on to the next step.
Step 3 – Shampoo Your Hair
This step helps to clean up your hair. A sulfate-free shampoo is recommended from our side, as it is less damaging to the follicles and the hair. The sulfate-free shampoo doesn’t have SLS which stands for Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Otherwise, any shampoo that you are currently using works fine as well.
Step 4 – Apply Hair Spa Cream For Deep Conditioning
Now, I use a homemade mask for my hair. That mask contains Curd, egg, beetroot powder or pulp, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and aloe vera gel. All these ingredients have a benefit of their own. Let us know in the comment section if you want to know how what are the benefits of these ingredients in a hair mask. So, either you can use a homemade hair mask or a store-bought hair spa cream. Many brands sell hair spa creams, such as L’oreal, Jovees, Wella professionals, Toni&Guy, Mama earth, Himalayan, etc.
You have to leave this mask for approximately 15 to 20 mins and then wash it off using the shampoo of your choice. Applying conditioner is totally on you.
Do not dry your hair using a blow dryer, let your hair dry naturally. You can also use a hair serum, to avoid damage from sun exposure or pollution.

Apart from following those 5 steps for a hair spa treatment, here are some additional tips for you, which will help you in increasing the overall health of your hair.
- Do not try your hair too tight. It will result in hair breakage.
- Do not overdo hair styling. The heat from the instruments will hamper the texture of the hair.
- While stepping out in the sun, cover your hair with a cloth or a hat.
- Have a high protein and iron diet. Consume a handful of nuts on a regular basis.
- Avoid consumption of refined oils, excess sugar, starch, refined flour etc.
- If coloring, use natural dye instead of bleaching your hair and using artificial coloring agents.
